Oh, wow, I have some updating to do! Please forgive the big gap in time here. I'm workin' on it.
April, 2009Austin Chronicle - "Ivey's adventurousness stands out in a town saturated with singer-songwriters... The latest (recording), Sweet Little EP, features a remarkable cover of Radiohead's 'Climbing Up the Walls.'"
February, 2009Aielli Unleashed - "One of the most talented vocalists I've heard"
February, 2009Fevered Brain Radio - "Ivey has what I like to call a voice of an angel... we don't discover talent like this often enough."
January, 2009Austinist - "Austin's very own classy folk chanteuse is trained, equipped and ready to march on the major air waves... And, if you need the approval of the mainstream tastemakers, go check out all the good things that Perez Hilton had to say about her."
August, 2008MadeLoud interview for the Monolith Festival at Red Rocks
August, 2008El Paso Times Sweet Little E.P. review - "A cross between the sharp girlishness of Juliana Hatfield's voice and the smoky smoothness of Suzanne Vega's"
May, 2008Austin Sound Sweet Little E.P. review - "There isn't a more appropriate way to describe Ivey's voice and intentions on the four tracks presented. Her voice is just so damned sweet I want to eat it up with a spoon after dinner with coffee. Or maybe before dinner. Yet, the most intriguing and respectable aspect audible is the mature, sensual essence she brings to thoughtful and meaningful lyrics with her voice."
May, 2008The Graphic Sweet Little E.P. review - "If Ivey's just an Illuminati pawn, then the elite have better musical taste than one would have imagined."
April, 2008Perez Hilton - "Sweet folk pop... so endearing and warm you want to go back for seconds."
March, 2008Austin Music Minute on KUT 90.5FM - "Local artist Erin Ivey brings sensual sophistication to folk rock, combining the perfect blend of alluring vocals and smooth tempos."
September, 2007Nouknouk - "sa musique s'ecoute facilement en sirotant un bon cafe au lait bien chaud sous quelques rayons de soleil d'automne"
August, 2007The Graphic 11th Floor CD review - "no-label but all-pro"
Erin Ivey writes and sings songs about death at sea and other loves & wonders. Raised in Annapolis, MD on musical theatre and voice lessons from her grandma, she has become Austin's urban folk darling.
"Erin Ivey is a superstar. It's going to be frustrating to wait for the world to finally figure this out." (Chris Magyar, Austin Monthly magazine)
In a few short years, Erin has played over 250 live shows nationwide, garnered a shoutout from Hollywood gossip maven Perez Hilton, and been named one of Austin's top unsigned artists.
"I would kill for a purr like that." (Luciana Lopez, The Oregonian)
Locals will also recognize her from the infectious "Take Me to Reids" TV and radio ad campaign, the cover of Austin Monthly magazine's "Most Beautiful Women" issue, and her "Live at The Long Center" performance broadcast on Music Entertainment TV throughout the year.
"Sweet folk pop... so endearing and warm you want to go back for seconds." (Perez Hilton, perezhilton.com)
Erin is about to release a brand new album. It is a unique collaboration with R&B/dub organ trio The Finest Kind, due summertime 2010.
"It's a different kind of sound. That very hard, deep blues background and then (that) voice comes sailing in on top of it. I really dug it." (John Aielli, KUT 90.5FM NPR Austin)
